Strange days

Life seems very strange these days. My day is filled with strange thoughts compunded by strange occurences. Each day brings news from all corners of the globe that to me, seem very strange.

The G20 recently wrapped up, and with its end brought the heralding of a new global government and a new global currency. Gordon Brown himself trumpeted the creation of a "New World Order". Not that he was the only one. A google search of the phrase new world order shows you how much its use has escalated in recent years. It doesn't seem more than a year ago that it was a phrase heard only in conspiracy circles. Of course now those circles can claim prophetical credit for a number of things, the global currency push being just the tip of the ice berg.

While all that is pretty hard to digest and fully comprehend I have no trouble spotting a noticable increase in police and government agency powers in recent months. A recent example is the new powers given to the President and the Department of Commerce over the internet. It would appear that online privacy might be a thing of the past. Also the recently passed G.I.V.E. act creates the possibility of mandatory service. The kicker for the GIVE act for me was the part about volunteers not being able to participate in... well... much of anything... but most certainly not religious activities or protests against pending legislation.

I often wonder on the nature and effects of fear. I question the origins of my own fear. I wonder if I may be slighltly paranoid by nature. I question the highly edited, controlled news we are fed.
I wonder... If I knew the entire story... the whole truth... would I be more, or less afraid?

Strange days have found us
Strange days have tracked us down
Theyre going to destroy
Our casual joys
We shall go on playing
Or find a new town
